Our commercial model is published so fundraisers and donors can understand how money moves.
Good Cause keeps 2.5% of each donation. Donors pay the card processing fee on top, so the cause receives 97.5% of every donation.
The card processing fee covers what Stripe charges us for the payment. If Stripe charges more, for example on an overseas card, Good Cause covers the difference. The cause always receives 97.5% of the donation.

Why a $1 minimum is allowed
We want supporters to be able to contribute at any level. On small card donations the fixed part of the card fee is a larger share of the payment, so the donor sees the exact card fee before paying.
Payment-processing costs
The card processing fee is calculated from Stripe’s standard New Zealand pricing for domestic cards (2.65% + 30c) and is shown to the donor before payment. It is not deducted from the donation. If Stripe charges more, for example on an overseas card or with currency conversion, Good Cause covers the difference from its own fee.
GST
Good Cause will describe and account for GST in accordance with the operator's actual GST status and New Zealand tax requirements. The site must not describe a fee as including GST unless GST is properly applicable and being accounted for.
